Dr Neelam Bala is New Secretary of the
Animal Welfare Board
October 9th , 2018:
A veterinarian and young Animal Scientist, Dr.
Neelam Bala has joined Animal Welfare
Board of India , under
the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate change
,Government of India , as Secretary on October 3,2018.
She did her B.V.Sc.& A.H. from Chaudhary
Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar in Haryana; M.V.Sc. from
the same University and also Ph.D. in animal genetics and breeding. She has participated in training programs
related to general management, governance and veterinary science and animal
welfare in IIM ,IVRI, MANAGE, NIDM, WII,
IASRI, NIRD, CPDO. She has been a scholar all along and has several national
and International research papers to her credit having been published worldwide.
Also represented India in training program on Animal Health in Colorado State University
Fort Collins, U.S.A. She presented paper in ‘International One Health Congress’
at CSIRO, Melbourne,Australia.
She is member of many associations
related to Animal Sciences including IAAVR, ISVM, ISAGB, LASAI. She is also
reviewer and executive member of several Journals. She is nominee in various
Animal Ethics committees including CDRI, IITR, NBRI. Dr. Neelam Bala has been
awarded by various organizations for her contribution, notable being Lady Veterinarian
Award, Santulan Award, Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Excellence Award, Rashtriya Gaurav
Award, Young Scientist Award, and National scholarship by Ministry of HRD Government
of India.
Dr. Neelam Bala is particularly
keen on animal Welfare and Ethics for better care of homeless animals, large
and small those are abandoned. She wanted to make a bridge among government,
animal lovers and public for solution on the spot.
